Flexible vertical barrier

Flexible vertical barrier is a new type of composite vertical barrier solution that can meet the requirements of environmental anti-seepage level. GCL vertical barrier technology is one of the main flexible vertical barrier technologies. GCL vertical barrier is a new type of composite vertical anti-seepage technology composed of GCL composite components and low-permeability walls. After excavating into a trench, GCL composite components are first vertically laid along one or both sides of the trench wall, and then low-permeability wall materials are backfilled in the trench to build a composite vertical anti-seepage barrier with anti fouling and anti-seepage functions. The low-permeability wall initially blocks and adsorbs pollutants, while GCL improves the overall anti-seepage performance. The multi-layered structure coordinates with each other, solving the shortcomings of existing vertical anti-seepage technology such as low anti-seepage level and easy leakage at joints, enabling it to cope with complex polluted environments.

The GCL vertical barrier is developed on the basis of conventional anti-seepage walls, which is technically safe and reliable, with a anti-seepage coefficient of less than 1 × 10-7cm/s, and meets environmental anti-seepage requirements. Customized transformation of GCL into composite components, combined with specialized construction machinery and techniques, has achieved vertical laying of flexible GCL in trenches for construction. The GCL vertical barrier technology can be designed or selected with appropriate GCL and wall types according to engineering requirements and pollutant characteristics to adapt to different application environments. GCL vertical barrier technology is applicable to all existing slotted vertical impermeable walls, especially suitable for vertical impermeable fields with high anti-seepage requirements such as risk control of polluted sites and renovation and treatment of old landfill sites.

Compared with another type of HDPE flexible vertical curtain, GCL vertical barrier technology is developed on the basis of traditional vertical impermeable walls. Its construction process and efficiency are basically the same as conventional vertical impermeable wall construction, with low construction difficulty and high construction efficiency. The GCL vertical barrier technology adopts overlapping connection vertically, which is simple to construct and can meet the vertical laying of ultra deep groove sections. It is different from the locking connection method used for HDPE vertical curtains, which is difficult to construct and prone to leakage at the connection. The cost of GCL vertical barrier technology is about half of that of HDPE flexible vertical curtain, with outstanding economic benefits. Considering factors such as safety and reliability, construction period, and economy, GCL vertical barrier technology is currently the recommended flexible vertical barrier technology.
