The particle size of bentonite is relatively large. When the surface encounters water, a waterproof film is formed to prevent water from entering the particles and delay the hydration expansion of bentonite. Meanwhile, due to the large particle size of bentonite, it needs to self expand to seal the voids, and its hydration requires a certain amount of time, which makes its early anti-seepage performance poor.
