IGS case competition Asia region
DuringGeoAsia7 (31 October – 4 November 2022), in Taipei, Taiwan, the InternationalGeosynthetics Society (IGS) held its third Corporate Case Study competitionopen exclusively to IGS Corporate Members. A shortlist of six entries werepresented during the conference, all of which focused on geosynthetic projectsin Asia.
The case study entitled “Application of innovated GCL vertical barriersystem in landfill remediation” prepared by Tianjin Zhonglian Gelin Science andTechnology Development Co., Ltd was awarded runner-up of the competition. The casewas based on the first engineering application of GCL vertical barrier atDongcheng landfill remediation project in Jinghai, Tianjin, China. Theengineering case of GCL vertical barrier technology has been recognized for thefirst time on an international platform, demonstrating the advanced andinnovative nature of the technology.
GCL vertical barrier system is a patented technology innovated by TianjinZhonglian Gelin Science and Technology Development Co. Ltd in 2017, since itsinvention, it has been used in landfill, industrial pollution site and minewaste site remediation successfully, and well-received as a suitable candidatefor immediate protection and containment assurance in China.
